Disney World Tickets Went Up Again

Starting last Sunday, the  base price of a one-day WDW ticket jumped 3.7 percent, from $82 to $85 and that makes it the first theme park to have a base ticket that is over $80.

Most of the other tickets are going up too – the 5 day ticket will increase 5.9% and the 7 day will go up 8.1%. My annual pass will go up 2%.

That’s a lot – and it’s the second increase in the past year.

There are 23 on-site hotels on the Disney Florida property, and that doesn’t include the ones like the Swan and the Dolphin that are not owned by Disney. There are 25,126 hotel rooms. Now consider all the rooms off property, in the Orlando area, and all the day trippers.

A family of five – 2 adults and 3 children – would pay $407 for one day at WDW. And that doesn’t include hopping, so if they want to visit more than one park it would cost more. And if one of the kids was over 9 it would be more. And if anyone wanted to buy food or souvenirs…

Who the Hell are all these people that can afford Disney vacations? I thought I heard something about the economy being bad.

“We regularly evaluate and adjust our pricing and continue to focus on providing one-of-a-kind entertainment experiences at a great value,” said Bryan Malenius, Disney spokesman. ”Our research tells us that nearly all our guests agree that a Disney theme park experience is a strong value.”

Translation: “We’ve gotten people so addicted to Disney that they’ll pay anything.”

We, the addicted, we must find ways to fight back and save money. Always check Mousesavers for discounts and never, ever pay full price.
